Because I'm a fairly open and reachable person by nature, my online presence, specifically my blogs and vlog, tend to be very public and open in general, sometimes to an extreme level. I'm wondering if I should then make this particular journal a more personal and private place instead.

Public and private both: Just do what most people do with their journals here. Keep all of your basic posts public, while setting all the other posts to some kind of private level.

Private and access level only: You have an oppertunity to do something diffrent here and make things more personal and intimate. But set all your posts to basic level only. Keeping track of specific filters is complicated. Keep it simple enough.

I'm always looking for things to link, so public blogs are far more appealing to me than private ones. That would be my first choice, from my perspective. A good compromise is leaving things public unless you want to talk about something really private, in which case you can put it on a filter.

I always have had my things FList locked but I never post anything of interest to the public, lol, so...

Perhaps its from either past experiences or having a slightly distrustful nature, I tend to keep this journal on - at least- access only. I'm all for being open, but I have had people who have tried to keep "tabs" on me which has proven to be uncomfortable.

My default is access only, I rarely make public posts (other than, say, my introduction post which is public so that people can see what my choices are.)

I have roughly half a dozen filters, some of which overlap other areas, but I only rarely restrict posts beyond general access.
